Lettre d'Amriswill, commune de Thurgovie en Suisse du 24 juillet 1846 pour Buchs, commune de Saint-Gall. La lettre contient une petite carte qui annonce la naissance d'un garçon. La lettre est envoyée en Port Payé. Il existait déjà des timbres cantonaux depuis 1840 en Suisse, mais n'étaient valable que dans le canton. Les premiers timbres fédéraux font leur apparition en 1850. La Suisse est le deuxième pays après la Grande-Bretagne à introduire le timbre-poste.
Brief aus Amriswill, Gemeinde Thurgau in der Schweiz vom 24. Juli 1846 nach Buchs, Gemeinde St. Gallen. Der Brief enthält eine kleine Karte, die die Geburt eines Jungen ankündigt. Der Brief wurde mit Porto bezahlt versandt. Seit 1840 gab es in der Schweiz bereits kantonale Briefmarken, die jedoch nur im jeweiligen Kanton gültig waren. Die ersten eidgenössischen Briefmarken erschienen 1850. Die Schweiz war nach Großbritannien das zweite Land, das Briefmarken einführte.
Letter from Amriswill, municipality of Thurgau in Switzerland of July 24th, 1846 for Buchs, municipality of Saint-Gall. The letter contains a small card which announces the birth of a boy. The letter is sent postage paid. Cantonal stamps already existed in Switzerland since 1840, but were only valid in the canton. The first federal stamps appeared in 1850. Switzerland is the second country after Great Britain to introduce the postage stamp.
