Ci-dessus un timbre à identifier que m'a envoyé François et voici son histoire.
Hier ist eine Briefmarke zur Identifizierung, die mir François geschickt hat, und hier ist seine Geschichte.

Le capitaine John R. Floyd avait établi la Floyd`s Penny Post à Chicago et imprimait des timbres en trois couleurs. Chicago était une ville en pleine expansion et de grandes quantités de timbres ont été imprimées et utilisées. En 1861, les États-Unis ont adopté une loi qui conférait au gouvernement le monopole de l'acheminement du courrier et mettait fin aux activités des postes locales indépendantes. Conformément à cette loi, Floyd a cessé son service de poste le 20 juin 1861. Les timbres de Floyd sont aujourd'hui catalogués pour 50 à 100 $ chacun et jusqu'à 1 400 $ s'ils sont utilisés sur une enveloppe.
Kapitän John R. Floyd hatte Floyd`s Penny Post in Chicago gegründet und druckte Briefmarken in drei Farben. Chicago war eine wachsende Stadt und es wurden große Mengen an Briefmarken gedruckt und verwendet. 1861 erließen die USA ein Gesetz, das der Regierung das Monopol für die Postbeförderung verlieh und die unabhängigen Postämter vor Ort praktisch aus dem Geschäft drängte. In Übereinstimmung mit diesem Gesetz stellte Floyd seinen Penny-Postdienst am 20. Juni 1861 ein. Die Floyd-Briefmarken werden heute für 50 bis 100 $ pro Stück und bis zu 1.400 $ auf einem Umschlag verkauft.
Capt. John R. Floyd had established Floyd`s Penny Post in Chicago and printed stamps in three colors. Chicago was a growing city and large qunatities of the stamps were printed and used. The U.S passed an act in 1861 which gave the government a monopoly to carry the mail and effectively put the local independent posts out of business. In conformity with this act, Floyd discontinued his penny-post service on June 20th, 1861. The Floyd stamps catalog today for $50 to $100 each and up to $1,400 if used on a cover.
